The oldest University of Romania celebrates 150 years


The oldest university of Romania – “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi has celebrated today, October 25, 150 years since its foundation.
More than 2.000 university professors, students and alumni have marched today on the streets towards the university.
In October 1960, the former Prince of Moldavia and Valachia, Alexandru Ioan Cuza founded the first Romanian university. Its first faculties were Theology, Law and Philosophy.
The university is marked by a lot of history – going through communism, reforms and reconstruction. Nowadays, “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi is the best educational institution in Romania, having tens of generations of alumni.
