Helicopter crashes in Romania


An Israeli helicopter has crashed in Zarnesti town, Brasov county of Romania around 3:20 PM local time (8:20 AM EST). According to Romania’s Antena 3 news channel, there were six Israeli military officers and another Romanian one. The Ministry of National Defense says that it was a CH 53 Sea Stallion helicopter.

As a result of the crash sever people died. A SMURD crew is heading to the place of the crash at this moment.



UPDATE 2:50PM (EST):The helicopter lost the radio contact with the base, led to the crash.

UPDATE 1:47PM: The helicopter was on fire at the time of the rescuing, ProTV channel informs.

UPDATE 1:33PM (EST): Four bodies have been recovered by the rescue team.

Antena 3 has some images with the helicopter which were taken by a witness a few minutes before the crash.
